Ketosis what does it really mean and is it dangerousI am very new to this Ketogenic way of eating and it still feels wrong to me but I am totally aware that is because I am programmed to eat and believe the other way. So I am trying it full on because of all the incredible things I have read about it. But my attitude still is not the best as I am kind of impatient about the results. Its only been a week. Weight loss is guaranteed but will it kill my inflammation, thats my big dream. Quite annoying when you think you are doing everything right and the body does not agree with you :) I believe that everything happens for a reason. As a healer I believe I need to investigate every modality of healing, even if it seems to be a strange fit. What kind of healer would I be if I ignored the science of the Ketogenic diet and some of my clients suffered because of this. Keeping your mind open and following your intuition is essential today as we are pounded with the ideas of others all day and it can confuse us and maybe affect our chances of healing. One size does not fit all. So what do I eat? Here is the shopping list, prepare to be amazed. Coconut oil Butter Cream full fat Full fat greek yoghurt Avocados Leafy greens Chicken, wings best full of fat Minced beef, fatty kind Lamb and steaks Macademia nuts if I can get them but if not almonds and walnuts Sunflower and pumpkin seeds Olive oil Chia and linseed, a ton of this I am eating Salmon, sardines and sometimes other fish Eggs Thats about it really. Miss my tomatoes and fresh juice, but know when I heal this inflammation that I believe is due to post menopausal stuff, then I can have a blended more balanced diet. Lets see. Quality is important too. That the animals and animal products have been fed the right foods and been farmed humanely. This is a challenge sometimes and I think and bless the animals for helping me on this strange journey. Like the entire movement back to Nature you can get caught up in details and do nothing because it is way less than perfect. I am doing the best with what I have. Mission Ketosis and low inflammation. In simple terms I am running off fat for my energy source, not carbs. Is it dangerous as lots of people like to suggest? No. Is chemo dangerous more to the point. My body will be fine with no carbs for 4 weeks, that pales into comparison with the toxic drugs some people believe you need to heal. I watched a video on a girl who has stayed in ketosis for 7 years and looks amazing. Is that recommended? I say listen to your body and do what feels good to you. Watch this space.
