23 years ago on a random wednesday night I was in the Argyll Hotel in Lochgilphead organising the first Leukaemia weekend. There was this hot guy having a beer at the end of the bar. Hot guys were very rare in Lochgilphead. What are you doing here I asked him? He was cycling through Scotland and had stopped over night in the caravan park. We invited him to the party at the weekend but he said he was moving on. Then he got a bug the next day and ended up staying for a few days and became a friend. We kept in touch for a while then time passed along with years and it came to my mum and dads Golden wedding. Our entire family went to Aviemore and when we got back a neighbour told us we had had a visitor and that the guy was clearly ill. She did not get a name, but remembered where they had stayed so I managed to find out it was Stephan. She told me he had motor neurons disease and had one wish to return to Scotland, travel around and visit us, so his family had paid for what would likely be his last trip. I was gutted to have missed him. Usually at least my mum and dad would have been there to greet him. Anyway he is still managing to lead a life despite what seems to me like the most incredibly tragic situation. But he needs help. He is completely paralysed, tube fed and on a respirator and desperately needs a car. If you could spare even £10 or so to help, if enough people do it we can help him to have as much comfort as possible given his respirator and chair. This is the message he sent me to check his English. To all my english speaking friends and family ,
some of you might know about my situation and some not . Please take a few minutes time to read about the situation I'm in at present . At the age of 42 I was diagnosed as an ALS patient . Also known as MND ( motoneuron disease ) . Since May 2010 I'm a wheelchair pilot . Ever since then I feel happy about this because I can move and change places at my own will . Also in 2010 a stomach tube was installed for easy application of nutrition . Finally in April 2014 I decided for tracheal respiration and so a machine does the breathing job for me ; I'm lazy haha . But, as so often in life, you have to pay a price . In my case it's like this : I have intensive care 24/7 all through the year and very luckily the nursing staff have become friends with me . But I don't have a private life anymore . If I didn't have family and friends I would not have reason to keep on going . Most of all my beloved wife Elke is an inspiration and we still go watching live music , visit friends and family , go the pictures and so on . A new transport vehicle is urgently needed because our 25 year old Volkswagen is not worth putting in one more single €, $ or British Pound for repair or maintenance and every trip turns out to be a risk for everyone in the van . And we ran out of financial options . Our recourses are nearly null . At this point I'm asking for your help and support . Can you please help and put some bucks or quid down ? You might have a budget for things like this . Every amount you can afford is welcomed . Therefore I opened a special bank account BIC SOLADEST600 IBAN DE09600501017400002436 or PAYPAL wiesel5000@web.de Please believe I would not ask if I was not forced to do so . To see my present situation please whatch attached videos and pictures. There will be questions on your side . Please do not hesitate to contact me via email wiesel5000@web.de or Elke via cell phone + 49 0152 34562838 If you have friends who want to donate also , please invite them to join in . I will send information how this campaign is develloping and you'll see what your engagement is doing good to me I thank you so much by now and I wish we can meet some day for me to say thank you personally to you Good luck and see you soon Yours Stephan
